The non-event event invites marketgoers to skip the party and donate directly to the World Central Kitchen.

Gift for Life’s Home vs Hunger team invites High Point Market attendees to the most exclusive event that doesn’t actually exist. A twist on the organization’s signature “Party with a Purpose,” the Home vs Hunger Non-Event Event offers marketgoers the chance to skip another cocktail party and instead make a meaningful impact by donating directly to World Central Kitchen (WCK).

Instead of adding another event to the calendar, Home vs Hunger is asking High Point Market participants to “buy a ticket” to this “non-event” fundraiser. Every dollar raised will go directly to WCK to provide meals to people in crisis. Just a small donation goes a long way. According to Gift for Life, donating the price of one High Point Market martini provides WCK with two hot meals, and donating the price of one Uber across town provides enough to feed an entire family.

“High Point Market is overflowing with showroom parties, so we decided to do something different,” explains Russ Jones, Gift for Life board member and Home vs Hunger event chair. “By skipping the party and donating instead, attendees can turn the cost of one market martini into two hot meals for people in need.”

High Point Market takes place Oct. 25-29 in High Point, North Carolina. Attendees can donate to the Home vs Hunger Non-Event Event fundraiser online anytime during the event at www.giftforlife.org/donate. The organization also wants to encourage attendees to snap a picture of themselves enjoying a drink while they make their donation and tag @GiftForLife to spread the word about this cause.

Gift for Life’s Home vs Hunger initiative, which debuted at High Point Market in October 2022, has now raised more than $112,000 through various fundraising activities, including in-person events at High Point Market and online campaigns. The nonprofit organization hopes this year’s event will raise $25,000 to support WCK’s efforts.
