CJ Products Announces Pillow Pets Shark Week and Blockbuster Film Agreements

CJ Products, the creators of the iconic Pillow Pets foldable plush, in partnership with Discovery Consumer Products, the licensing arm of Discovery Communications, have announced a licensing agreement for the Shark Week Pillow Pet. Additionally, the company is tying into children’s blockbuster favorites including Disney’s Finding Dory and Moana, DreamWorks’ Trolls and the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

“Discovery Channel has taken one of our most majestic and misunderstood ocean animals to maximum levels of education and entertainment,” said Jennifer Telfer, CEO of Pillow Pets. “Fans will love the realistic attributes of the Shark Week Pillow Pet stuffed animal and still be comforted by our signature dual function plush toy by day, pillow by night feature.”

Telfer also said, “Movie-going is such a popular childhood activity, we are happy to extend the joy movies provide into the realm of play. Children are so excited after they see a movie that they cannot wait to engage with the characters in all areas of their lives. Pillow Pets products bring a touch of room décor along with the practicality of everyday use as both a toy for imaginative play and a pillow for television, bed or travel time.”

Characters from Finding Dory, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more are available as both the signature Pillow Pets folding stuffed animals and Dream Lites.

Gift for Life’s Party for Life Raises $200,000

Twenty-Fourth Edition Honors Industry Leaders, Supports DIFFA
Industry leaders Howard Henschel, Suzy Batiz and Arun Agarwal were honored at the Gift for Life Party for Life fundraiser.

Gift for Life, the gift and home industries’ charitable organization, announced that its Party for Life fundraiser raised $200,000 for AIDS treatment and prevention. The 24th annual event, which benefitted Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA), drew a record 500-plus attendees to The Boathouse in New York City’s Central Park on February 1.

The Party for Life featured numerous New York City-themed food stations, multiple bars and a short program honoring three industry leaders. Howard Henschel, president and CEO of The Norman Group, was awarded with the Chuck Yancy Lifetime Achievement Award; Suzy Batiz, creator and CEO of Poo-Pourri, was the recipient of the Norman Glassberg Trailblazer Award; and Arun Agarwal, CEO and director of Nextt, took home the Bert Tonkin Gift of Giving Award.

“Gift for Life is ecstatic at the amazing turnout for Party for Life and the success of our 2016 fundraising efforts,” said Frank Joens, Gift for Life’s chair. “This year’s group of award recipients are such a wonderful trio and are truly some of the most deserving business people in our industry. They have been extremely generous to Gift For Life in both donations and industry support. I was truly honored to be a part of recognizing their outstanding contributions.”

In addition to recognizing industry honorees, guests competed for an array of prizes at silent auctions.
