Americasmart®

Retail and design intersect with sophisticated style in AmericasMart® Atlanta’s celebrated vignette design exhibition, “It’s All Here – Where Retail Meets Design” at The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market® this July. The exhibition features vignettes curated by the Southeast’s top design-led retailers with merchandise sourced at AmericasMart.

The exhibition, presented by AmericasMart Atlanta in collaboration with “Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles” magazine and REstyleSOURCE, showcases excellence in visual merchandising as designed and executed by leading retailers. REstyleSOURCE also presents trend vignettes in the lobbies of AmericasMart Buildings 1 and 2.

“Retailers from across the globe turn to AmericasMart and The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market for inspiration,” said Dave Savula, executive vice president, AmericasMart Home, Gift and Apparel Showroom Leasing. “Our newest vignette gallery is the ultimate expression of that inspiration by showcasing how products from across our vast Marketplace can come together to create a profitable lifestyle shopping experience.”

The July Market’s new favorite tradition, the White Party, is again the signature event of the Market, taking place in the Vignette Gallery on Friday, July 15, 2016, at 7 p.m.

“It’s All Here – Where Retail Meets Design” is located in Building 1, Floor 14. It will be open for viewing throughout Market, and will continue to be on display in the months thereafter.

This trendsetting Market also presents a robust schedule of educational presentations, networking events and industry celebrations.

Interior design influencers will appear, as will entertaining expert and award-winning event architect Tara Guérard who will share the secrets to mastering the desirable indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Additionally, the AmericasMart Demonstration Kitchen is more interactive than ever with four participation classes held throughout the Market. And The Education Center, AmericasMart’s celebrated business educational programming, again presents a series of mini workshops throughout the Market.

AmericasMart also celebrates the home, gift and rug industries through a series of at-Market events.

The much-anticipated launch of the DÉCOR Light & Lifestyles collection at the Market expands AmericasMartAtlanta’s design-driven product resources yet again with a juried trade show presentation of home furnishings and accessories encompassing lighting, furniture, fine linens and textiles. The new category showcases a select assemblage of fresh lines and designs built on the success of the celebrated HIGH DESIGN, HD Home and LUXE temporaries.

In other news, Michelle Barton has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of AmericasMart® Atlanta and its AMC, Inc. parent entity by action of the AMC Board of Directors, according to Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., vice chairman, president and chief operating officer. 

Her advancement affirms Barton’s sustaining contributions to AmericasMart’s continuing growth over her 18-year AMC, Inc. tenure during which she most recently served as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

“Michelle’s impeccable financial stewardship is a singular hallmark of our corporate governance,” Portman said. “As AmericasMart’s global franchise and influence continues to expand, her deep experience, expertise and world view play a huge role in helping to accelerate that growth,” Portman added.

Barton is responsible for all AmericasMart registration services and assists in the implementation of strategic technology enhancements supporting various AMC assets and operations. During her tenure she has overseen the construction cost accounting for AmericasMart’s one-million-square foot expansion opened in 2008, and has worked closely with lenders on various AMC financings.  

Before joining AMC, Inc. in 2003 as vice president and controller, Barton served as corporate controller of New World Communications Group before its acquisition by News Corporation. She began her career at Ernst & Young and is a Certified Public Accountant.



Emerald Expositions

NY NOW®, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, has announced that registration for its popular seminar series at the summer market is now open. In addition, NY NOW also announced that tickets are on sale for the always-fun A Night on Broadway event. The show returns to the Jacob K. NY NOW’s exciting A Night on Broadway event returns for the summer market with Something Rotten, a mash-up of 16th Century Shakespeare and 21st Century Broadway that tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two playwrights stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar Will Shakespeare. When a soothsayer foretells the next big thing in theatre, the Bottom brothers set out to write the world’s very first musical.

WESA in Denver Provides An Authentic Trade Event For Retailers and Wholesalers

Urban Expositions and Development

Halloween & Party Expo is pleased to announce a new partnership and co-location of events with Party Club of America (PCA), the party and Halloween industry’s largest and most innovative buying group for independently-owned party, costume, and Halloween retailers. Beginning in 2017, Party Club of America will hold its annual event in conjunction with Halloween & Party Expo in New Orleans, further aligning the industry and providing a singular platform for both retailers and suppliers.

“Organizations like PCA are an important part of the party and Halloween industries, and we are pleased to be joining forces with them,” said Doug Miller, partner of Urban Expositions, a Clarion Events Company. “We look forward to working with PCA and its membership as we focus on growing the Halloween & Party Expo event and providing a comprehensive business-to-business platform for our customers.”

Party Club of America has rapidly grown into the largest, most influential, and most entrepreneurial buying group in the party industry. Walter Erwin founded Party Club in March 2002 with the goal of supporting independent retailers and helping them successfully compete in a complicated marketplace. Today, PCA continues to thrive, representing over 300 retail outlets (including brick-and-mortar, pop-up and ecommerce shops) and cultivating a growing preferred supplier program.

The nation’s largest trade show for the souvenir industry returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center with an expanded selection and a new Sunday-Wednesday date pattern. Held September 18-21, 2016, in South Hall 3-4, the Las Vegas Souvenir & Resort Gift Show grows by more than 10 percent to bring retailers 1,300-plus booths filled with the latest introductions from every major and new souvenir/resort supplier. Special spotlights on Made in America resources, the Hawaii Pavilion, education and networking events round out the extensive offerings.

“Now entering its 11th year, the Las Vegas Souvenir & Resort Show kicks off the industry’s buying season,” explained Donna Guess, vice president, Souvenir, Urban Expositions. “From a relaxed, fun atmosphere conducive to the relationship-building that is so important in this sector to an unrivaled selection developed with the unique needs of the resort/destination buyer in mind, this has truly become the can’t miss event for anyone in the business.”

Moving to a Friday- Monday date pattern this summer, the August 19-22, 2016, Seattle Gift Show continues to build upon its reputation as a destination resource for retailers seeking fresh, new designs custom-tailored to their Pacific Northwest customer base.  Promotional alliances with the new Seattle Mart permanent showroom building (formerly the Pacific Market Center) and Seattle’s indie craft show, Urban Craft Uprising pavilion, come together with a show floor filled with artisan crafts, regional specialties and top name brands to offer retailers everything they need, so close to home.

The OFFPRICE Show is coming to Las Vegas in August.

The OFFPRICE Show, an order-writing trade show, is held at the Sands Expo at the Venetian in Las Vegas, August 13-16. The show connects retail professionals with over 500 exhibitors who offer all categories at up to 70 percent below wholesale prices. It is said that just one deal at the OFFPRICE Show can add more excitement and more profit to your stores.
