Creating young enthusiasts

Both Georgia and Washington state parks understand the importance of getting the younger crowd interested in exploring the parks. Wildthings has been helping park retailers like them in that endeavor since 2018. The company specializes in apparel and products that enhance the park experience for children. Offerings include Junior Ranger adventure vests, educational nature T-shirts, hats, backpacks, and games.

“They’re interpretive, education-based but they are also still designed for children. They supports the park’s mission of encouraging kids to be outdoors and it is also sensory, designed with children in mind,” says owner Adina Powers.

She adds that Wildthings’ goal is to provide something that’s not just a souvenir, but also that encourages kids to engage with nature and parks’ educational programs. Products are designed with children ages three to nine in mind, with features like sensory-friendly designs and practical usability.

By offering apparel that is both functional and interpretive, Wildthings helps parks create a seamless connection between education, recreation, and lasting memories, allowing young visitors to continue engaging with the outdoors long after they leave the park.
