Seeding sales for 250

For America 250, the Museum of the American Revolution has been considering how a themed product can make an impression.

Through a partnership with Burpee Seeds, the museum introduced The Declaration Bouquet, a commemorative seed pack with flower varieties in patriotic colors that celebrate by the Spirit of 1776. “It’s inspired by flags and celebration,” says Allegra Burnette, chief strategy and growth officer.

Burpee approached the museum with the idea and is also working with other historical organizations. The seed pack serves as a storytelling anchor and offers cross-merchandising opportunities, from flower presses and garden tools to home decor tied to seasonal displays.

As the museum store builds out its assortment, partnerships like this highlight a broader strategy: start with story, then build the product mix around it. Burnette says, “It’s a great example of how stories can spark new and different relationships.”
