The Home and Gift Industry Creates LIFELINE to Support Feeding America’s Natural Disaster Relief Efforts
The United States gift and home furnishings industry is responding to the essential needs of people affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and the California wildfires with LIFELINE, a national program to fund food and water provisions organized by Gift For Life and AmericasMart® Atlanta. Contributions will be distributed to people in need through and in association with Feeding America®, the nation’s largest hunger-relief charity.
Gift For Life is the partnership between the gift, home and stationery industries historically committed to raising funds supporting HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and education. AmericasMart Atlanta is the global wholesale marketplace serving gift and home furnishings retailers and designers from every U.S. state and more than 70 nations.
LIFELINE will channel monetary donations for the provision of food and water to communities impacted by the recent disasters through Feeding America member food banks. Donors can make tax-deductible credit card and e-check contributions via the secured LIFELINE page on Feeding America website www.feedingamerica.org/giftforlife. Donations by check and cash will not be accepted.
AmericasMart Atlanta has initiated LIFELINE funding with a $40,000 donation and has issued a challenge to the gift and home furnishings community at large for donations in equal $40,000 increments. The challenge is effective through the 12-week LIFELINE run, which concludes January 12, 2018.

The winter 2018 edition of NY NOW®, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, will take place February 3-7, 2018, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. NY NOW features three comprehensive collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE and HANDMADE – that encompass tens of thousands of products in hundreds of product categories. The Handmade®Global Design section of the HANDMADE Collection will open on Saturday, February 3 and close on Tuesday, February 6, on Level 4 in the River Pavilion. The HOME and LIFESTYLE Collections, as well as the Handmade® Designer Maker and Artisan Resource® sections of the HANDMADE Collection will open on Sunday, February 4 and close on Wednesday, February 7 on Levels 1 and 3. Philadelphia Gift Show and Seattle Gift Show
In an effort to connect even more artisans with retailers seeking one-of-a-kind designs and other unique finds at its regional gift shows, Urban Expositions will launch Artisan Alley at the Winter 2018 Philadelphia Gift Show (January 5-8) and Seattle Gift Show (January 20-23). Joining the popular Makers’ Market handcrafted section at both shows, Artisan Alley will feature curated tabletop display spaces for artisans to showcase and sell works in an array of gift, home and fashion categories.
“Our Makers’ Market handcrafted section has always been a key destination area for retailers.
